One Glastonbury headliner announced, two to go - and organiser Emily Eavis has dropped a few clues as to who they might be.

The 2020 event will mark the music festival's 50th anniversary, so big things are expected for the celebrations.

Dizzee Rascal believes he should headline Glastonbury. The 'Bonkers' hitmaker was supposed to perform at the music extravaganza this year but the festival was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and when it returns in 2021, the rapper believes he ought to have topped the bill because his appearances have been so popular in the past. Pop icon Taylor Swift certainly knows a thing or two about milestones, she taught us the most important lessons about growing up in “Fifteen”, celebrated the vibrancy of youth in “22” and pulled a Prince by immortalising the 20th century with her album 1989, but I think ushering in her 30th birthday by announcing a headline slot at Glastonbury has to be the winner, right?

Paul McCartney has already been confirmed as one of the three headliners for Glastonbury's famous Pyramid Stage in a 'dream come true' booking, but who else could be joining him?

Don't expect confirmation any time soon, but Eavis has dropped a few hints, revealing that the two remaining names have never played the festival before.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2's breakfast show, she also said the other headliners are a man and a woman.

'Interestingly, the other two headliners, it's their first time at Glastonbury,' she said. 'We have got one male and one female who are coming.

'There are a couple of clues there. I'm sure people will guess. Don't start putting them to me, I'm a really bad liar.'

So who could it be?

Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar were already the bookies' favourites to take the slots, and Eavis's hints will only bolster the rumours.

Swift is playing shows in Europe in June, but currently has a gap in her schedule between shows in Norway on 26 June and Denmark on 1 July - leaving her perfectly placed to take Glastonbury's Sunday night closing headline slot on 28 June.

Lamar has no tour dates listed on his website.

Spice Girls fans have also been getting excited, with unconfirmed reports that a full line-up return could be on the cards.

For McCartney, Glastonbury 2020 will be his first time at the festival since he headlined in 2004, alongside Oasis and Muse.

Diana Ross has also been confirmed to play the famous Sunday legends slot, but no other line-up details have been released.

Eavis said more announcements would be coming soon and that 'there might be another one this side of Christmas but realistically most of it is going to be at the beginning of 2020'.

She has previously said that next year's headliners for the Other Stage, the festival's second biggest stage, will also be 'Pyramid level' to ensure the 50th celebrations make the festival one to remember.

All 135,00 tickets for Glastonbury 2020 sold out in just over half an hour after they went on sale, organisers said.

This year's festival was headlined byStormzy, The Killers and The Cure, while Kylie Minogue performed in the legends slot.

There’s nothing like a Glastonbury rumour – and now the Internet’s interest has been piqued with a cryptic line-up clue from former Beatles frontman Paul McCartney.

Paul McCartney took to Twitter to tease an upcoming gig today.

Pretty big as they go: he was plugging his now-officially-announced headline appearance at Glastonbury next summer (2020).

And he did it in an ingenious way.

McCartney tweeted a composite image of composer Philip Glass, actor Emma Stone and singer Chuck Berry, and fans speculated like wildfire (“This new Ben & Jerry’s flavour sounds awful”, one witty Tweeter quipped).

They didn’t have to speculate for long, though. Look at the surnames.

Glass. Stone. Berry.

Yep. McCartney used one of the greatest living composers to help tell the world he’ll be headlining Glastonbury 2020.

*Minimal* (see what we did there?) effort, maximum effect, we reckon.

Well played Macca. Here’s what Twitter had to say:

This new Ben & Jerry’s flavour sounds awful.

Oh Paul, you should know better than to pronounce it like that. Fixed. pic.twitter.com/DDPDWUZWXs
